Religious Destination Weddings
Every couple is unique, and traditions and rituals vary widely — that's why we plan Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, and Jain ceremonies at resorts equipped to honor your faith, from a priest traveling with the couple to a Mandap set up for a multi-day Hindu celebration. Customize every detail to create a ceremony that reflects both your cultural traditions and your personal style.

Honoring Your Faith, Wherever You Celebrate
A destination wedding doesn't mean setting your traditions aside. Our Certified Destination Wedding Specialists work with resorts across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica that regularly host Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, and Jain ceremonies — coordinating everything from clergy travel and ritual requirements to catering restrictions and multi-day event space, so your ceremony feels as authentic as it would at home.
We also plan symbolic ceremonies, vow renewals, and same-sex weddings for couples blending traditions or celebrating outside a specific faith framework — see our same-sex destination weddings guide for the legal-versus-symbolic distinction by country.
Plan By Faith Tradition
Catholic Weddings
On-site chapels, resort-arranged priests, and guidance on Pre-Cana requirements and parish paperwork for a Mass or blessing abroad.
Jewish Weddings
Chuppah setup, ketubah signing, rabbi travel arrangements, and guidance on kosher and kosher-style catering options at all-inclusive resorts.
Hindu or Jain Weddings
Mandap ceremonies, Baraat processions, Sangeet and Mehndi events, and dedicated South Asian wedding packages at select resort brands.
Key Planning Considerations
-
Officiant / Clergy
Decide early whether your own priest, rabbi, or pandit will travel with you, or whether the resort will arrange a local officiant. Traveling clergy usually need flights and accommodations included in your budget; resort-arranged officiants may have limited availability in your tradition.
-
Ceremony Space
An on-site chapel (common at Dreams and Barceló properties), a covered ballroom for a Mandap or chuppah, and outdoor space with a curfew that allows for evening rituals like a Baraat or Hora.
-
Catering & Dietary Needs
Vegetarian and Jain-friendly menus, kosher or kosher-style catering (few all-inclusive resorts hold formal kosher certification — confirm what's realistic), and halal options where needed.
-
Multi-Day Events
Hindu and Jain weddings often span several days (Sangeet, Mehndi, Baraat, ceremony, reception) — this generally requires a higher minimum room-night commitment than a single-day ceremony.
-
Ritual Items
Confirm whether the resort allows fire rituals (Saptapadi), can source ritual items locally, or requires the couple to bring specific items (kiddush cup, unity items, garlands) themselves.
-
Legal Paperwork
A religious ceremony is not automatically a legal marriage — see the section below on how the two are handled separately in most destinations.
Legal Marriage vs. Religious Ceremony
In most cases, a religious ceremony abroad is symbolic rather than legally binding on its own, and couples handle the two separately:
Legal Civil Marriage at the Resort
Available in Mexico (nationwide) with the required documentation (birth certificates, blood test in some states, apostilled paperwork), performed by a local civil judge alongside or before your religious ceremony.
Legal Marriage at Home, Religious Ceremony Abroad
The most common approach for Jewish, Hindu, and Jain couples: a short civil ceremony at home (before or after the trip) and the full religious ceremony at the resort, which carries the cultural and spiritual weight without added legal paperwork abroad.
Catholic Couples
A Catholic Mass abroad generally requires parish permission and paperwork (Pre-Cana completion, letters from your home parish) regardless of whether it's also the legal ceremony; your priest or resort coordinator can confirm requirements.
